a couple days of spring

The weather is weird, albeit typical, here in Texas this time of the year.  The weather people talk of "normal" and "average" but really this is typical.  Which translated means .... sometimes warm and sometimes cold.  I kinda like it.  But it's grown on me over the years.

Yesterday ... and today... was spring-like.  In the 70's.  A bit soupy today with the cloudiness and occasional misty rain.  But a cold front is on its way that will plummet our temps back down into the 40s during the daytime and 20's and 30s at night.  It'll arrive sometime tonight and last for a few days... bringing winter to our back doors again.  Which is fine.   Good actually!  I'll crank up the fireplace and enjoy that too... making some Beef Stew tomorrow.

What else to do?  Yesterday I got myself moving and bought nine bags of mulch and soil and did a little yard work.  For which I am now paying .... with soreness, but a good kind of soreness.  It was a nice day.  Norman loved it.  Getting out into the yard all day long, except for the wonderful little nap we took in the early afternoon.

There is nothing like getting out and getting dirty and digging in the garden to make you feel alive and giving you a sense of accomplishment.  Also makes you feel that much better to sit and put your feet up later on in the day and say, "Yes, I deserve this guilty pleasure of (you fill in the blank)"....

Hope you too are finding what makes you happy and enjoying "right now".....

  1. Gardening and planting new flowers and whatever-I-feel-like is one of my favorite things. Every so often I get a yen to have a little herb garden or a pot of vegetable-something. I don't have a proper yard - just a patio - so the flowers always do best. One day maybe I'll get the hang of container vegetables. But it does me good to get out, put my hands in dirt, and have something beautiful to look at for my trouble. I'm glad you have the same love for it. Looks like Norman was enjoying himself as well! It's FREEZING here now - coats and scarves a must! Light your fireplace and get ready...

  2. Hi Sweet Friend,
I've just caught up on several of your postings I missed while left to squint at the iPhone. As so often happens while reading your lovely posts you once again brought be to tears, humbled me and made me smile. You have such a gift in touching all the parts of my heart and soul.
I'm so pleased you had a loving and lovely Christmas. I am fairly sure there were some moments where you earned some more stripes for fortitude and valor.
Looking forward to sharing 2013 with you...
    Loves~
