It began with a doctor's appointment and got better as the day went on (though it was a good doctor's appointment visit too).
I told my daughter Jenni a while back if she wanted or felt compelled to cancel her gym membership, which she wasn't using, (eh, how many of us have done THAT!?), I'd buy her a bike. You see, I love to ride but it'd be nice to have someone to ride with, so I had a dual motive. One being that it would be good for her and another being good for ME. I'm tricky that way!
So off we went today to find the perfect bike. Which we did in about ten minutes after arriving at the bike shop. It didn't take long. It was just THERE screaming "I'm the one! Get me!" Yellow, with a basket and bell and just right for what she wanted to use it for. Exercise... with some comfort.

This growing quirky Austin town is full of cafes and sandwich shops and delightful eating places that are easy to miss and drive right past if you don't make a little bit of effort to scope them out. We found another winner for lunch called Food Heads. It couldn't have been a better place and added to the afternoon fun.
toasted multigrain bread with spinach, tomato,
basil pesto & blackberry balsamic vinaigrette.

As I sit down and relax now at the end of the day I think of how I come from really good people. I come from kind people.... from strength and hardworking, generous, affirming, encouraging and loyal people. Family that, well let's face it, isn't perfect but who wants perfect? It's as it should be.
I'm thankful for how the last few years have molded me. I'm happy with what IS and what will BE ... the amazing, the not-so-amazing, the love, the learning, the grief, the tears that easily spill, the giving of everything I had ....
... all of it.

I LOVE the yellow bike! I would love to have a riding partner during the day... Later on, when it stays light longer, LaMar and I can take our long rides after work. For now we are content with riding around the neighborhood, AND we just bought a stationary bike. It's been great for these cold evenings.
ReplyDeleteNext time I'm in Austin we will for sure go eat at one of those wonderful little places. What you had looks amazing! You sound happy.
Good vibes coming over!
