a little news anyone?

I couldn't help but wonder this morning as I was watching a news show who it is who decides what we need to know each day.  With all the stories of happenings out there in our country and the world a few of them land in our laps and into our consciousness.

Today I learned Judge Judy is being sued by a lady who claims Judy has her china and flatware!  Seems the lady's husband who she is divorcing sold it to Judy for a mere fifty grand when it was worth ten times that.  Now this is something I needed to know about first thing in the morning as I staggered out of bed to make my morning coffee.  I don't even watch Judge Judy.

Then I heard about a lady who was spiking the sippy cups of prescoolers with a sleeping aid at a day care before nap time. I guess she thought they needed a little help falling asleep all at the same time so she could get a bit of a break too.   Ha!  Nothing like striking a little more fear into the hearts and minds of mothers everywhere who are dropping off their children at daycare this morning.  A little more stress to go along with their work day.

Oh, and one of the Real Housewives of New York is at odds with the Spanx founder over her Yummie Tummie brand.  She claims that the rival underwear-maker Spanx is making and stole her product and Spanx says no way!

Of course the pope was in the news.  Sounds like a lovely man.  I enjoyed seeing a smile on his face.  That's all I'll say about that.

Sometimes I'll listen to or watch a segment that is disgusting or crude and I think..."gee I really didn't need to see that..."

It must be a tough job deciding what stories to include and what not to.  I guess they do a good job trying to appeal to everyone and not just ... well... to me.

And it does give us all something to talk about.

  1. You know... I've wondered the very same thing. Since it's all about ratings, I'm sure they just try to appeal to the common denominator (sadly) while also trying to push their particular agenda (depending on the newscast you subscribe to). At any rate, I just take it all with a grain of salt and turn off the offensive or ridiculous. Sometimes. Every once in awhile, ridiculous is kind of fun.

  2. Hi Kathi! I complain about the news a lot, and have actually stopped watching it most of the time. I would even totally give up TV except for the few shows that I really like! Cable is such an expensive "extra".
I love your new profile photo. You are beautiful!

  4. Interesting! I don't think I've ever wondered who decides, but HOW they decide what is "news". I do like the cute stories they throw in once in a while--a baby born in the Lincoln Tunnel, or a bird nest on top of the entrance to an apartment building and the parent birds diving at people in order to protect their young are two that come to mind.

  5. Yes! I often wonder that as well...maybe they put all the stories in a pot and someone chooses? LOL, it seems to have about rhyme or reason as doing that!

I like getting news from my friends on the blog...worthier stories!
    Hugs~
