thank you seems insufficient… but THANK YOU!

We need to be angels for each other, to give each other strength and consolation. Because only when we fully realize that the cup of life is not only a cup of sorrow but also a cup of joy will we be able to drink it. ~ Henri Nouwen

I read this quote this morning and found it to be appropriate.
I can't even begin to express how much each and every comment has meant to me.  The kindness shown, words of understanding, hope and encouragement.  Promises of prayer.  Thank you ALL so much.  What a wise bunch you are.  Looks like we are all learning together, huh?

My spirit is renewed by a special group who has given me reason to believe that this world is full of incredible people who are having a gentle and loving impact in their places on the planet.

Thank you for touching mine.

P.S. Jenni is the “real deal” and a wonderful woman.  As beautiful on the inside as on the outside.  I hope you continue reading her blog and blogging yourselves.  You are a talented, creative, amazing bunch of people….

  5. I meant to write you yesterday, but my computer was being a little funky so I left a long comment on Jenni's blog and am copying and pasting it here, because I want you to know what I wrote...

I loved this, and I loved reading everything your mom had to say. LOVED it.

My Nonie (my moms mom) found out she has cancer for the second time. She beat it the first time and now it came back, however, the doctors are even more upbeat this time that things will go well and she will beat it once again.

She has five kids, all my aunts and uncles (and my mom, of course) and she goes to Seattle every 4 weeks to get chemo treatments, and at least one, if not more, of her kids go with her every time. They have to stay 4 days in Seattle so she always has family. I just couldn't imagine not having a family so close to stick by each other.

Nonie is our LIFEBLOOD and the cornerstone of this family, so I understand completely what you feel.

I went out of town the other day and asked my mom to stop by my house and feed my dog. When I walked into my house after getting out of town, it was SPOTLESS. Her and Nonie had some when I was gone and cleaned it to the brim. And when I had gone of out town? It. was. a mess. HUGE mess. I almost cried I was so happy. and thankful.

anyway, when Nonie was here, she noticed that I only had like 4 dinner plates from when we got married. We got married seven years ago and have broken quite a few plates and never replaced them. So she went out and bought me ten new dinner plates, salad plates, bowls and coffee cups, in zebra print, just because she wanted to.

SWEETEST thing ever. I swear I thank her every time I see her. It's just the little things that make families what they are. I am SO blessed to have the family I have and to live close to my parents, my grandparents, my sisters (who happen to be twins, and my one sister, who got married at 18 and is celebrating her 10th wedding anniversary this year, is pregnant for the first time with twins!!!!) and cousins, etc.

Family is the best thing in the world :)

  7. Having just celebrated my 60th birthday I feel I have a few worn treads and a tad of life experiences. You have raised a very insightful young woman in Jenni. I love her stories about your special times together. Your example of a love well lived with Edd will be a strength she can draw from for a long time. I've lost several family members, and have some fighting now in this epic war of cancer. Some have been unbearably too young to have lost their fight. I have friends who are telling me always they are not dying from cancer but living with it!
I pray for you and yours that God brings you peace with your journey and wraps all of you in His love and grace.
I'll be checking in from time to time and please know you, Edd and Jenni have many many people loving and praying for you all.

  8. Kathi, thank you again for sharing so freely. You give me the courage to share my own feelings about my situation. We weren't close in school all those years ago, but I am so thankful that we have connected now via our computers. I love reading your blog and Jenni's. You are both talented writers!
